This is the first “real” video game I have ever made. I led the development of this game in Spring of 2022 as part of GCS, despite having never even created a game in a proper game engine before. When I pitched the game to the club, I had no strong vision of what the game could be, besides a simpler and faster-paced version of Ultimate Chicken Horse. However, once I came up with the idea that I could incorporate live-aciton elements, everything thematically fell into place.
I vividly recall the game being in a poor state as I filmed the final scene with teammates on the Tuesday before GCS’s release night. I also remember having a work-intensive final assignment for15-122: Principles of Imperative Computation due the same week. However, I decided to get an easy 15/25 of partial credit for the assignment before devoting every other possible waking hour to working on the game before release.
One hour before release, Eli, one of my teammates, shows me a working implementation of the multiplayer mode I asked him to make long before. I didn’t even know that he was still working on it, let alone actually finished it. Eli miraculously overcame the numerous merge-conflicts, and we showed the game off at the release event.
To top all of the effort off, Supreme Hen Donkey was awarded the GCS Gold award for best game.
I continued development of the game during the summer, which I feel is when game development really clicked and felt natural to me. During this time, I also made a trailer for the game.
At the time of writing (beginning of Spring 2026 semester), in honor of my graduation, and to explore what I believe is serious untapped potential, I intend to remaster this game and heavily lean into the single player, story mode experience during what will likely be my final year of (full-time) education.
